Who We Support

 

Make Waves proudly supports organizations that are focused on equal employment opportunities, replicable housing models, and social engagement programs that allow autistic individuals to achieve a happy, quality lifestyle.

 

Make Waves supports Autism Society of America in their efforts to support families on a state and local level through their 73 affiliates located throughout United States. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Make Waves shipped over 50,000 masks to Autism Society affiliates across the country.


Make Waves will help sponsor a new 3 year Employment initiative with Autism Society of America to develop best practices for assisting adults on the autism spectrum as well as employers for mutual success.

Make Waves supports Els for Autism for their U Can Employ Program as well as the Work Experience program and Adult Day Training program for 21 and older.


-The Work Experience Program provides On the Job Training (OJT) in the local municipality, healthcare, or hospitality industries.
- The Adult Day Training Program is designed for those who primary needs are for socialization, recreation, pre-vocational skills, and community involvement.

 

Most recently, Make Waves Family Foundation’s funding of First Place’s 2021 health initiatives is enabling the Arizona-based nonprofit to plan its fifth 360 Health & Wellness cohort and move forward two complementary initiatives: activation of the on-site Virginia G. Piper Health Spot clinic and a Creighton Medical School elective.

Make Waves also provides yearly scholarships to First Place Phoenix for students in the Transition Academy, a two year program designed for adults with Autism that helps build crucial independent living and career-readiness skills.
The 2 year Transition Academy provides:
• An apartment in state of the art apartment complex
• 32 courses at Gateway Community College to build Independent living skills
• Clinical services with SAARC Internships & employment

• Travel Training
• Community Activities

Friendship Home’s mission is to enrich the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families by providing quality respite care and support services. They help raise awareness in the community to maximize the resources available to support their work and their innovative programs.

Healthcare Nepal is an all volunteer organization of Nepalis and Americans working to improve healthcare and education in Nepal. They also grant to AutismCare Nepal Society for education for children with autism as well as support and training for families.

The Lurie Center for Autism at Mass General is a multidisciplinary clinical, research, training and advocacy program dedicated to treating individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disorders across the lifespan.

 

New England Baptist is committed to collaboration with community partners and residents across Boston to identify areas of special need in musculoskeletal disease and collaborate on programs to address these needs, with special focus on underserved populations, through outreach, education, and provision of services to address musculoskeletal health.

Feeding America’s mission is to advance change in America by ensuring equitable access to nutritious food for all in partnership with food banks, policymakers, supporters, and the communities they serve. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Feeding America network of over 200 food banks served 42 million people and 6 billion meals were distributed across America.

 

Amigos of Costa Rica’s mission is build a bright future for all and to ensure that clean water flows to all people living in Costa Rica’s Central Valley. They have developed programs providing educational scholarships as well as supporting animal rehabilitation around the country.
